I made my white lasagna for the second time last night. It turned out better than the first time, absolutely delicious if I do say so myself, and I have an idea or two for the next time I make it.
The story behind the lasagna:
The first time I cook with friends, I always try to find out if they have any food allergies or other dietary restrictions. I was going to make lasagna, and did my usual check-in about allergies. The answer was, not anything that would go in lasagna. What was it? Scallops. That night I made my usual lasagna, but my challenge was clear: I had to make a lasagna that includes scallops.
The ending result uses alfredo sauce, scallops, shrimp, sausage (precooked chicken type), asparagus, mushrooms, shallots, and garlic, plus a bit of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
yum.

| Introducing Brigadier General Piper Whitefoot: |
[23 Aug 2009|01:38pm] |

It's hard to tell how tiny she is in this picture. Pip is now just over 8 weeks old. We got her last Saturday when she was just over 7 weeks old. She came from our next door neighbor. She uses her litterbox and eats dry food. Pip was curious when she met Sam. Sam hissed at her.

| VERY IMPORTANT MEDICAL ALERT! |
[12 May 2009|10:53am] |
The Center for Disease Control has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically. This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises.
Take two good friends to the nearest liquor store and purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) and Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. You should immediately forward this medical alert to your friend. If you do not have friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life.

I listened to the radio on my way to work and watched the inauguration on my boss' tv with one of my coworkers.
I feel that I have witnessed and been a part of a historical event that gives me hope for the future and a feeling of pride for my country.
I haven't read through it yet, but here is is:

A bit out of date since Dark Knight came out in July or whenever. I was weeding my e-mail, and came across this link:

...which will lead you to a funny fan vid making fun of Christian Bale's Batman voice (which, by the way, did not bug me, and I still find this video funny).

When reading current news headlines about who is fighting the pirates and what the pirates have done, my first thought is always of them as classic pirates not as modern pirates.

I had a very complicated dream last night / this morning which I can't remember most of. In the most clear part of the dream we were kayaking to escape or go somewhere or something and there were giant squids kayaking as well. Then we were surrounded by a ton of kayaking giant lobster robots, and everyone said not to worry, but I was worried, because giant lobster robots kayaking up to you are kinda scary.

The hamster will follow your mouse, and you can give him food, and if he gets out of the wheel you can click on the center and he'll go back in! It's cute!

| Twilight |
[21 Nov 2008|09:31am] |
Saw Twilight at the midnight premier last night (this morning). I'd be really curious to hear what people think about it who have not read the book, or who have not read all of the books.
One of the main reasons I wanted to see it at the midnight show was to witness all the screaming fan girls, and I was not disappointed.....in the screaming fan girls at least.
( thoughts, spoilers, you know the drill )

| proud of my country, disappointed with my state |
[05 Nov 2008|09:51am] |
My joy of Obama's win was quickly dampened by the initial results of Prop 8. As I write this, to the best of my knowledge, the final result is too close to call since they are still counting absentee and provisional ballots, but also that it looks like it will pass. Fuck. I just read that it passed.
...
I wrote and deleted a decently long post several times. We all know the arguments for and against, and there is no need to get into that here at this time, nothing I say will change anyone's mind on this issue.
Simply...
I am upset, angered, ashamed, and deeply saddened that the majority of Californians think that it is right and just to discriminate against a group of people and deny them equal rights.
I was yelling at my radio this morning as the talk show hosts I usually listen to on the way to work were saying that now that Obama has won, it proves that Americans are not racists or bigots. Yes, Obama's win is a big step, a momentous historical event that I am thrilled to have been a part of, but it does not mean that poof! all race issues have been solved and don't exist anymore. And if bigotry had disappeared, then same-sex marriage would be allowed throughout the entire United States as it should be.

I went to a Halloween party on Saturday night! After three years of sitting home depressed about the lack of Halloween festivities, getting to go to a party was super exciting. I was inspired to make costumes:

Yesterday I did something that I've always wanted to do, and for some reason never have. I opened a new pack of Bubble Tape, took it out of its dispenser, and took a big bite out of it. It was a bit too much gum and was sort of hard to manage, but it was very satisfying.

It's true that you can learn something new each day. For instance, I had no idea that a "deluxe" Porta-Potty can be rented for under $150 a month.

[30 Aug 2008|12:14am] |
As promised when I first got him, here is a video of my little fully aquatic frog:
We decided to get a little buddy for Froggums, and it turns out that Little Buddy is actually bigger than Froggums. They are very cute. ;)
